Is ChatGPT killing your content creation?
Greetings Cyborg!
We are renaming this newsletter to Content Cyborg - to denote the perfect blend of human creativity and AI productivity.

THE BIG WORD
Is ChatGPT killing your content creation?
As the initial awe of conversing with an eloquent AI chatbot fades, it's time to actually look back and reevaluate the hype versus the realistic capabilities of ChatGPT.
Before I get critical, I want to give credit where it’s due.
ChatGPT is amazing. I mean, carrying on legit conversations with AI? And getting articulate, even creative responses back instantly? That's crazy cool stuff.
The innovation is undeniable. As an ever-available intern, it boasts utility. But is it really a good collaborator in the content creation process?
I collaborate with real people all the time - in Figma, Notion and Reword. Going back and forth, tweaking each other’s work, leaving comments—you know, true collaboration.
Trying to “collaborate” with ChatGPT is nothing short of a hot mess. First you need to figure prompt engineering. Yes, it does have a learning curve.
Soon, you’ll realize that - prompting is not collaboration! At least in the context of content creation, prompting becomes a painful repetitive attempt to make the AI understand what I want.
A hundred copy-pastes await. My creative juices were flowing all right - but it was in directing the AI.
And you know what? At the end of day, that “content” still needs my special sauce. My style, my flair, my unique point of view.
ChatGPT gets the basics down, but it ain’t me. My people can tell, trust me.
So I again don the role of an editor. It’s not too hard, but it is still work. I mean, somewhere in this whole process I secretly wished that ChatGPT could’ve lived inside an actual editor, you know?
Then maybe it could really collaborate with me, instead of me just feeding it stuff in a dinky chat box.
Can’t you just picture it? We’d be riffing on ideas, me adding a clever turn of phrase, it suggesting a tweak here or there. I spout nonsense, ChatGPT keeps me honest. It misses the mark, I nudge it back.
We support each other, play off each other’s strengths. Now that’s collaboration!
Pssst! With Reword, that’s what we are trying to build. It’s like ChatGPT baked into Google Docs and trained on your content!
